ALL AGES WELCOME:
Middle School,
High School, University Students and Adults.
Improvisation experience is NOT required. This workshop has
3 levels:
Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced
You may attend one, two or all three of the sessions
as a participant or an observer.
Bring your
instruments! All instrumentalists, including:
Trumpet, Trombone, Sax, Clarinet,
Flute,
Violin, French Horn, Oboe, etc...
Rhythm section
players:
Piano, Guitar, Vibes, Bass, and Drums
This is a fabulous experience for all music lovers, please attend.
Beginning Improvisers: 4:00pm - 5:30
Middle school
students (or older)
this is NOT for
beginning instrumentalists who are just learning to play.
For example, you
should have 2 to 3 years experience
playing in band and/or taking lessons.
You have knowledge
of at least some scales (C,
F, Bflat, G).
You may have
little or no experience in jazz improvising.
Introduction to
jazz scales, rhythms, patterns etc.
Intermediate: 6:00PM - 7:30
Middle School,
High School University Students, Adults.
You know most of
your scales.
Have good command over
your instrument.
You can read music well.
You have had some
experience playing jazz and/or improvising,
working with Blues
scales, Pentatonic scales and others.
Advanced: 8:00pm - 10:00
Must have a very
good command over your instrument.
You can read music
very well.
Know all your
scales major and minor.
Must have 4+ years experience playing in jazz bands, big bands or combos.
Regional band, All
State, All Shore or NJPAC
Must have some
experience playing jazz and/or improvising.
You know at least a few
jazz tunes.
