Sinatra Centennial Birthday Bash
at the Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, NJ
Jazz Arts Project, a nonprofit professional presenting organization, will hold its 9th Annual Sinatra Birthday Celebration on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 4:00pm EST at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ. This ever-popular gala concert event is a musical celebration in tribute to Ol’ Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra. This special year, as we celebrate the centennial birthday of this American icon, we’re looking for a limited number of the region’s finest saloon singers, crooners and chanteuse to perform alongside special celebrity guests (who will be announced at a future date.) Those selected to participate in this year’s cast will take the stage of the historic Count Basie Theatre, backed by the all-pro 18-piece Red Bank Jazz Orchestra under the musical direction of Artistic Director and conductor Joe Muccioli (who Jazzwise Magazine says works with, “A maximum of authenticity”).
The Annual Sinatra Birthday Bash is not a costume and wig show. It’s a sincere and respectful tribute in song to one of New Jersey’s most famous sons. This show has been an audience favorite at the theater for almost an entire decade. Proceeds from this event help to fund Jazz Arts Project’s educational outreach programs for youth in at-risk and underserved communities. Tickets are available at the Count Basie Theatre at 99 Monmouth Street Red Bank NJ 07701, (732) 842-9000, or online atcountbasietheatre.org.

Males, females, small vocal ensembles and talented performers of all ages are encouraged to apply. We’re less interested in Sinatra imitators, and more interested in finding singers who can sing not only in the Sinatra style but interpret the great songs of the American Songbook in their own personal way. Each featured vocalist will perform two songs with the orchestra (one on each half), and participate in the opening number and the finale. Performers will be coached and produced by the musical director and must attend rehearsals as needed. Additional rehearsals will include at least one whole cast staging rehearsal with piano accompaniment on a date TBA and the dress rehearsal on the day of the show (Dec. 6).
Featured vocalists will receive an honorarium of $200 per singer or ensemble. Audition is by CD (not in person). Please send a resume, headshot, and audio CD containing recordings of two songs of your work in the Sinatra style to Count Basie Theatre, 99 Monmouth Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701 – Attention: Sinatra Auditions
Singers selected by these auditions will be announced in early October.
Submission deadline is September 30, 2015.
Be sure to include your name, address, phone number and email address.
Please send a CD – do not direct us to a website or send tapes or DVDs. If you burn your own CD, make sure it also plays in a standard CD player. We listen to all submissions, but a good quality recording represents your best efforts. Singers selected for the show will perform with an orchestra and perhaps a choir; a cappella recordings (solo voice without instruments) are not encouraged as audition material.
