The non-profit Jazz Arts Project presents “Joys of Jazz” as an annual concert and fundraiser. As is our custom, along with featuring a legendary jazz musician, we present our own Jazz Arts Academy students in a showcase we call "Legends & Lions"
In the true tradition of passing down the joy of jazz to future generations, Jazz Arts Academy students, aka “The Lions,” will perform on stage alongside a "Legend" in the jazz world: trombone great Wycliffe Gordon & Friends. The students will alternate tunes and trade solos with the legends, showcasing the musical skills they have honed during the Fall semester of the Jazz Arts Academy, the premier jazz education program in the region.
Many of the world-class Jazz Artists we have engaged over the years have been integral to our music education program, some serving as instructors, clinicians, and mentors to these up-and-coming young musicians.
About Jazz Arts Project:
Jazz Arts Project was founded in 2006 as a unique non-profit model: The organization curates and produces world-class jazz performances to fund transformative music-education programs and build future generations of musicians, enthusiasts, and informed audiences for this historically significant art form.
Founder and Artistic Director Joe Muccioli leads an organization that has gained a distinct reputation for excellence through two decades of performances and education programs.
Jazz Arts Project serves the community through a two-fold strategy:
A “Concert Mission” for world-class concerts accessible to the community at large: Events are held in large theaters, intimate spaces, and outdoor parks. We are proud to have presented hundreds of events providing countless hours of enrichment and joy to tens of thousands of music lovers throughout the region.
Our “Social Mission” provides life-changing, transformative, personal growth and enrichment through various music training programs, with a priority for those from at-risk and underserved families. These include free summer camps for young beginners, various workshops and masterclasses, and a year-round training program for high school students in our Jazz Arts Academy.
