Description
Each year, in what has become a Jazz Arts tradition, we present this special holiday concert and fundraiser to support our year-round music education programs. We refer to this event as a “Legends & Lions” concert event, where world-class Jazz legends and burgeoning students take the stage together for a unique star-studded experience. You will witness musical rites of passage for our students as the Legends pass the baton to the next generation. We are proud to offer arts programming and enrichment to area youth and to the community at large.
This year's special guest artist is jazz great Jon Faddis, a complete and consummate musician, conductor, composer, and educator. As a trumpeter, he possesses a virtually unparalleled range and full command of his instrument, making the near impossible seem effortless. Jon also has an enduring commitment to the education of young musicians and frequently conducts clinics and masterclasses, devoting personalized attention to teaching the next generation of jazz musicians. He is a full-time faculty member and Director of Jazz Performance at the Conservatory of Music, Purchase College-SUNY, and holds the first-ever honorary doctorate in Jazz from Manhattan School of Music, as well as numerous other accolades and awards.
